Many East African countries, including Kenya, face persistent challenges related to insufficient and unstable power supply. Rapid population growth and increasing residential electricity demand have placed significant pressure on existing grid infrastructure.
At the same time, Kenya benefits from abundant solar resources, making solar energy a practical and sustainable alternative to traditional coal-fired power generation.
Local residential area managers began exploring off-grid solar solutions to:
Improve electricity reliability
Reduce dependence on fossil fuels
Lower long-term energy costs

Kenya's energy sector is making strides towards universal electricity access
After comparing multiple solar solution providers, the residential area management consulted Anern for a tailored solution.
Based on local electricity consumption patterns and household load requirements, Anern designed a 10kW off-grid home solar power system, optimized for:
Simultaneous operation of multiple household appliances
Stable power delivery during peak usage periods
Long-term reliability and ease of maintenance
A sample system was first evaluated to verify performance under real operating conditions.
Each 10kW off-grid system includes:
High-efficiency solar panels suitable for Kenya’s solar irradiation conditions
Solar inverter capable of stable DC-to-AC conversion for household loads
Lithium battery system designed for long cycle life and reliable energy storage
Integrated system control for safe charging, discharging, and load management
This configuration ensures continuous power supply even in the absence of grid electricity.
Following successful evaluation of the sample system, the residential area management proceeded with the purchase and deployment of 50 complete systems. Installation was carried out by local technical teams in accordance with standard installation procedures. Once commissioned, the systems were put into regular operation across the residential area.
